The Community Club of Lewis-McChord is honored to introduce the:
Washington Fallen Heroes Memorial at JBLM
CEREMONY: 21MAY2026 | 0900 | IRON MIKE STATUE, JBLM
DISPLAY AVAILABLE FOR VIEWING: Sunrise - sunset 21MAY2026 until 28MAY2026
The Washington Fallen Heroes Memorial at Joint Base Lewis-McChord stands as a powerful representation of the Illuminating Courage Memorial, originated by the Fallen Heroes Project. This memorial honors the Washington State and North Idaho service members who served in the post-9/11 era and gave their lives either in service or as a result of that service.
The Community Club of Lewis-McChord extends its sincere appreciation to the Fallen Heroes Project for their partnership and for making this meaningful collaboration possible, bringing the memorial display to communities here in western Washington.
Today, the display represents 385 fallen heroes. Each one is a son or daughter, a friend, a battle buddy, a leader, and a deeply loved member of a family and community. Behind every name is a story of courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment.
Their stories are not defined by how they died. Whether in combat, training, accidents, illness, PTSD, or suicide, the cause does not diminish their sacrifice. What defines them is their oath and their service. Each of these men and women made the conscious decision to stand in defense of this nation, placing the safety, freedom, and security of others above their own.
This memorial is more than a display. It is a space for reflection, remembrance, and connection. It invites us to pause in the midst of our busy lives and truly see the cost of freedom. It challenges us to remember not only their service, but their humanity, their dreams, their laughter, and the lives they lived beyond the uniform.
Illuminating Courage ensures that these heroes are never reduced to statistics or forgotten in time. It brings light to their legacy, honoring not only their sacrifice but also the resilience of the families, friends, and communities who carry their memory forward each day.
As this memorial stands, it does so because of those who continue to hold tight to their stories: Gold Star families, fellow service members, friends and supporters who refuse to let their light fade. Together, we ensure that their names are spoken, their sacrifices are honored, and their legacy endures for generations to come.

Special thank you to our Gold Star Advisor, Kamber Good. Without her efforts and advocacy in memory of her husband SGT John Good, this project would not be possible.
